Chinchilla dust is a specially roasted, degreased product that perfectly cleans the animal's fur. It is important to choose the right bathing container so that the animals have freedom of movement and that they do not spread sand over the cage.

Chinchillas love dust baths, but the sand cannot be in the cage all the time. Ideally, baths should be carried out two to three times a week. You should also remember that the sand becomes contaminated after a few baths and should be replaced with fresh sand.

Chinchillas cannot be combed. If the chinchilla's fur is felted or spiked, this indicates that the sand used for bathing is of poor quality or that the animal is not bathing in the sand at all. Its quality should be ensured.

Bird sand, sandbox sand for children, or construction sand should not be used as the sharp grains will scratch the skin and cause further fur problems.
