Compared with other insects, mealworms contain the greatest amount of exogenous amino acids, such as lysine, leucine, valine, methionine and tryptophan, which make them a source of complete protein. In animal nutrition, they fully meet animals’ amino acid intake requirement. Mealworm larvae are also high in unsaturated fatty acids, such as oleic and linoleic acid.
